If you’ve made the decision to adopt a child, congratulations!
Your life is about to change in a wonderful way!
Now, you might be wondering what your next steps will be. How do you approach the adoption process?
In my most recent YouTube video, I walk you through six (yes! six!) types of adoption you can choose from!
Some methods require more self-motivation than others, such as private/independent adoption. Without an agency to mediate the process, you will be doing much more of the leg work yourself!
This is perfect for people who prefer to self-network. Explore connections in your social circle. Let friends, family, and co-workers know that you’re looking to adopt.
Other methods of adoption can be lengthier and more involved, including domestic agencies and foster care. International adoption is one avenue that requires more time and dedication. Some adoptions along this route can take anywhere from 12 to 24 months but well worth it!
Some of the things you’ll learn include:
- What is the difference between domestic adoption and international adoption?
- What is a private, or independent adoption?
- How does an embryo adoption work?
As you navigate these choices, feel free to reach out to Adoption and Beyond with any questions you might have about adoption. We are happy to help!
What did you think of the video? Do you have a better idea of which type of adoption is right for you?
