Sometimes you come across photos that stops you in your tracks.

Kate Parker, a photographer in Atlanta, Georgia, perfectly captured the unconditional love attached to the idea behind adoption. In a series of photos, she shows her extended family interacting with its newest family member: her sister’s adopted baby boy named Sam.

The photo series, titled “Blended,” is incredibly touching, and is a wonderful example of how adoption changes lives every day. As Parker said, “We are so in love with this amazing little man who has brought such joy into our lives. There are so many wonderful and interesting things I am documenting, the power of love, the agonizing wait (and then elation) of adoption, the welcoming of another life into our clan, and what it means to be a biracial family.”

We could tell you more, but we think the photos can speak for themselves.

As a social worker who helped women with unexpected pregnancies, I saw that adoptions needed more heart and connection! I created Adoption & Beyond to create genuine connections between birth and adoptive families. Then life threw me the most beautiful plot twist – I became an adoptive mom myself! Talk about on-the-job training! For over 30 years, I've guided families through adoption with transparency, education, and ongoing support long after the "welcome home" balloons are gone. Feeling uncertain? I'm here to walk beside you on this amazing family-building journey.
