This page includes an overview of the possible cost of adoption. A Prospective Adoptive Family will be charged the actual adoption fees in effect at the time service is being rendered for any service that has not been prepaid; those amounts may vary from the amounts stated.

A Home Study is an educational tool used by Adoption & Beyond, Inc. (Agency) to prepare Hopeful Adoptive Parents (AP) to adopt a child. It is also an assessment process to determine whether AP is suitable to adopt and care for a child in a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment. Post-Placement/Post-Adoption Visits occur to ensure healthy adjustments for everyone.
Adoption & Beyond Inc. is available to perform domestic, international, private, foster care, and embryo adoptive home study assessments. An approved home study is required in order to adopt a child.
Home Study Fees

Application for Home Study Services
Application for Home Study Services fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- Screening, reviewing, and processing the portal application form
- Establishing AP’s portal file
- Access to our easy-to-use home study portal
- Addressing AP’s questions about the home study portal paperwork
- Personal guidance and support with the entire home study process

Home Study
The home study fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- Maintenance of file
- Office visits and one home visit
- Review of home study documents; writing report
- Coordination with placing agency/attorney to ensure all agency, country, and/or state requirements are satisfied
Home studies are valid for twelve (12) months or upon finalization of adoption, whichever comes first.

Post-Placement/Post-Adoption Fees

Post-Placement/Post-Adoption Supervision Report
Once AP adopts a child, post-placement/post-adoption supervision visits and reports are required to ensure healthy adjustments for everyone.
The number and timing of post-placement/post-adoption reports are determined by the placing agency, country, and/or state. Usually, 4 – 6 reports are required.
All visits are done in the home unless the placing agency, country or state allows otherwise.
Post-placement/post-adoption supervision report fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- One visit
- Reviewing, preparing, and writing the report
- Communication during the supervision period
- Coordination with placing agency/attorney to ensure all agency, country, and/or state requirements are satisfied
$400/per home visit
$200/per phone/video visit
International Adoptions-
Pre-payment of all required reports due upon submission of completed home study paperwork.
Domestic Adoptions-
Pre-payment of all required reports due before placement or ICPC supervision letter is issued
Miscellaneous Adoption Fees

Travel
- Travel up to 60 miles Round Trip (RT) is included in the fee for home study and post-placement/post-adoption. In cases where the (RT) is more than 60 miles, from the Agency’s office or regional case worker, a travel fee is charged. In cases where an overnight stay is required, there will be an additional Hotel/Meal expense fee of $400 to cover the cost.

Home Study Addendum and Update
An Addendum is required if anything about your current home study changes during the 12-month home study approval period. Note: An addendum is simply documenting a change to your current home study; it does not extend the expiration date.
An Annual Update is required by the states of Kansas and Missouri every 12- months until the courts finalize an adoption.
A Full Update applies if AP has adopted and is pursuing another adoption, if a home study is converted from one program to another (ex. Domestic to International) or if the original home study was completed by another agency.
Home Study Addendums and Updates fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- Maintenance of file
- One home visit (if needed)
- Review home study documents and writing the report
- Coordination with placing agency/attorney to ensure all agency, country, and/or state requirements are satisfied
$200/Minor Addendum- Text change (change of employment, change in physical, emotional, or mental health, change of child approval, or an immigration RFE, etc.)
$400/Major Addendum- Change that requires a visit with the family (move to a new home, change in marital status, new individual joined household, arrest or allegations of child abuse, etc.)
$600/Annual Update- Renewal of current home study at 12-month expiration.
$1,000/Full Update- Returning AP pursuing another adoption, converting a home study to another program, or the original home study was completed by another agency.

Expediting
- If a report is due or AP requests services to be completed within 60 days, an expedited service fee will be required.
- Note: Although Agency will make all reasonable efforts to complete the report within the expedited time, there can be no assurance the expedited time frame can be met (background checks, references, medical reports, etc. may delay the completion of the final report, as Agency cannot expedite these items). This service is available only on a case-by-case basis.

Third-Party Fees (96.40(c)(1))
The following are costs that AP pays directly to a third party as part of the Home Study process. AP understands that these are estimates only for planning purposes and these estimates are provided solely as a courtesy. AP agrees to release, indemnify, and hold Agency harmless from any and all claims, damages, and injuries caused by any inaccuracy in these estimated third-party fees.
