This page includes an overview of the possible cost of adoption. A Prospective Adoptive Family will be charged the actual adoption fees in effect at the time service is being rendered for any service that has not been prepaid; those amounts may vary from the amounts stated.

The home study is an educational tool used by Adoption & Beyond, Inc. (Agency) to prepare hopeful adoptive parents (Family) to adopt a child. It is also an assessment process to confirm the Family can care for a child in a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment. As a private, non-profit 501(c)3 Child Placement Agency, we strive to keep costs as low as possible. Home Study Fee (96.40 (b)(1))
Home Study Application
The home study application fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- Reviewing and processing the Family’s application.
- Initial orientation.
- Easy-to-use home study portal.
- Expert led training and discounted adoption education.
- Personal guidance and support throughout the Family’s entire home study process.
$750
- Upon submission of the application.
- Refundable if the application is not approved by the Agency.
- Application fee waived for returning clients.
Home Study
The initial home study fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- One home visit and interview.
- Travel fee included.
- A comprehensive professional home study report.
- Coordination with placing agency or attorney to ensure home study meets placing entity, country, and/or state requirements.
Note: A home study is valid 12 months from approval or upon finalization of an adoption, whichever occurs first.
$1750
- Upon completion of all home study paperwork.
Post-Adoption/Post-Placement Supervision Fee (96.40 (b)(7))
Home Study Case Management and Supervision
The case management and supervision fee includes one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency.
- Sending home study and supporting documents to as many different adoption professionals as the Family requests.
- Coordination with the Family’s placing agency or attorney to ensure all placement requirements are met.
- Interstate Compact receiving agency
- Up to 6 supervision visits (additional visits needed are $550 each).
- Travel fees included.
- Communication with the Family during the waiting, placement, supervision, and beyond.
- The Agency’s representation at local court hearings or a child’s best interest staffing.
- The Agency’s domestic program fee is waived.
- Lifelong access to the Agency for continued guidance, resources, and support for all the joys and concerns as your child grows.

- Upon the first review of the initial home study or fully updated home study report.
Miscellaneous Adoption Expenses (96.40 (b)(2))
Home Study Updates
Note : An addendum update documents a change to the Family’s current home study; it does not extend the expiration date of the report.
Annual Update – This is required by the state every 12 months until an adoption is finalized by the courts.
Full Update – If the Family has adopted and is pursuing another adoption, or the original home study was completed by another agency.
Note : The case management and supervision fee is due with a full update.
The home study update fees include one or more of the following Services provided by the Agency:
- Maintenance of file.
- One home visit and interviews.
- Travel fee included.
- A comprehensive professional updated home study report.
- Coordination with the Family’s placing agency or attorney to ensure the home study meets placing entity, country, and/or state requirements.
$450 Addendum

$1250 Full+ Case Management & Supervision Fee
- Upon submission of updated home study paperwork.
Expediting Services (Fast Pass)
If the Family needs a Service completed in less than 60 days or if you just want to jump the line in front of everyone else, there is an expedited service fee.
Note : Although the Agency will make reasonable efforts to complete the service within the expedited time, there can be no assurance the expedited time frame can be met (background checks, references, medical reports, etc. may delay the completion of the final report, as the Agency cannot expedite these items). This service is available on a case-by-case basis only.

Third-Party Fees (96.40(c)(1))
The following are costs the Family pays directly to a third party as part of the home study process. The Family understands that these are estimates only for planning purposes and these estimates are provided solely as a courtesy. The Family agrees to release, indemnify, and hold the Agency harmless from any and all claims, damages, and injuries caused by any inaccuracy in these estimated third-party expenses.
Background Checks
State & Federal Fingerprint Checks $45-$57/each (varies by state)
Child Abuse Checks $10-$15/each (varies by state)
National Sex Offender Registry Checks
$8/each
- Upon submission of background checks.
Adoption Education
- The Family is required to complete several adoption education courses and books. The number of courses and books varies depending on the type of adoption (e.g., Domestic, International, Transracial, Special Needs, etc.).
$45-$245/approx. total cost
- When purchasing training.
Documents
- (e.g., copies of Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decrees)
$15/approx. each
- Upon requesting documents from the issuing entity.
Medical Exams
Depends on the Family’s health insurance plan
- At medical visit.
