I’m excited to share that I was recently featured in VoyageKC, a Kansas City-based magazine that highlights inspiring local entrepreneurs and community members.

In the article “Exploring Life & Business with Steffany Aye,” I opened up about my nearly three-decade journey in adoption, sharing the personal experiences that led me to found Adoption & Beyond in 1998 and why I continue to advocate for transparency, open adoption, and family-centered practices.

“I introduced photo books that told real stories. I encouraged birth mothers to meet adoptive families and build real, human connections. I became a strong advocate for open adoption because transparency, connection, and truth matter – especially for the child.”

From my early days as a social work intern at a maternity home to becoming a pioneer of open adoption practices in Kansas and Missouri, my story is one of unwavering commitment to doing adoption differently—with heart, transparency, and respect for every family involved.

A huge thank you to VoyageKC for featuring my story and helping shine a light on the important work of adoption in Kansas and Missouri.

As a social worker who helped women with unexpected pregnancies, I saw that adoptions needed more heart and connection! I created Adoption & Beyond to create genuine connections between birth and adoptive families. Then life threw me the most beautiful plot twist – I became an adoptive mom myself! Talk about on-the-job training! For over 30 years, I've guided families through adoption with transparency, education, and ongoing support long after the "welcome home" balloons are gone. Feeling uncertain? I'm here to walk beside you on this amazing family-building journey.
