Birth Mother

Just wanted to say thank you for being so great and wonderful through the adoption. You have done so much for me and been so amazing and supportive during a happy and bittersweet occasion. You went above and beyond for me, getting my prescriptions, taking me home from the hospital. you have always been there for me and truly made a difference. The adoption was not easy for me, was by far the most difficult decision I have ever faced, but I am at peace by knowing she is in great and loving hands. I will always be grateful and thankful to you and everyone who was involved with the adoption.

Many Expecting Parents Ask...

How do I create an adoption plan?

Together, we create a well-thought-out, realistic plan that puts the interest of your child first and allows you, to be in control of your adoption process. Take a deep breath and trust in your ability to make the best possible decisions.

We highly recommend downloading our Free Expecting Parent Adoption Guide as a first step.

What services can Adoption & Beyond provide for me?
In addition to adoption education and guidance, we can help arrange assistance with food, maternity clothes, transportation to medical appointments, and legal counsel.
What are my adoption rights?

Our goal is to empower you to make the best adoption plan. You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect throughout the entire adoption process and life beyond.

You have the right to…

  • Participate in all phases of the adoption planning process.
  • Have all your questions answered completely and honestly.
  • Receive ongoing education, guidance and support during the adoption process and beyond.
  • Review photo profiles of families who have been carefully screened and educated and meet all state requirements to adopt.
  • Select and meet the family you want to raise your child.
  • Ask the prospective adoptive family a lot of questions.
  • Request help with basic pregnancy-related expenses.
  • See, hold, and spend time with your baby at the hospital.
  • Have your own adoption attorney provided to you at no cost.
  • Request an ongoing open and honest relationship with the adoptive family through the exchange of information and face-to-face visits.
  • Be treated with dignity and respect throughout the entire adoption process and life beyond.
Does the prospective birth father of the baby have to know?
That depends, each state law is different. This is something you will discuss with your personal adoption attorney. In situations where you don’t know who the birth father is or are unable to locate him, other legal avenues are available to complete the adoption.
Can I choose and meet the prospective adoptive parents?

YES! Meet our waiting families here First, we do a thorough evaluation of the couple to assure that they are emotionally and financially prepared to parent a child. In addition to hours of personal interviews, we do police checks, gather references, obtain medical clearances, and verify employment. We have each family prepare a photo profile for you to view on our website, so you can decide which family you like.

Most expecting birth parents choose to interview the prospective adoptive family before deciding on them for sure. We will work with you to help determine what type of relationship you want with the adoptive parents and your child now and into the future.

Will I get to see my baby at the hospital?
You are in charge of how much contact you want to have with the baby in the hospital. Some birth mothers choose to spend a limited amount of time with the baby opting for the adoptive family to start bonding with the baby immediately, while others choose to spend every minute with the baby while in the hospital.
Will I know my child is okay?
Many birth parents request letters and pictures from the adoptive parents as the child grows and many families visit each other regularly throughout the years. Continuing contact between the families is encouraged, but we will work with you to come up with a plan that is most comfortable for you.
What about life after adoption?
Following the signing of your adoption paperwork, the baby goes home from the hospital with the adoptive family. Your adoption coordinator stays connected to offer guidance and support to both you and the adoptive family as you adjust to your new normal. Both parties are encouraged to reach out to us as much as needed for as long as desired.
