Can we talk about adoption myths for a minute? I keep hearing the same outdated stuff that’s honestly keeping families from moving forward with their plans. Like thinking all expecting moms are teenagers – wrong! They’re actually the least likely to place their child for adoption. Or believing adoption takes years, no matter what – also wrong if you know what you’re doing. And my personal favorite myth? That you can have a closed domestic adoption. I haven’t done one in 25 years! These are the things I see all the time, and they’re actually stopping families from exploring adoption or having realistic expectations.
