Can a birth mother breastfeed the baby if she is planning on placing the baby for adoption?
Absolutely. Some birth parents desire to provide the baby with the colostrum or initial breast milk after birth because of the health benefits. Breastfeeding is another way of bonding with the baby. Bonding with a baby is important for a healthy release when placing a child for adoption. If a birth mother chooses to breastfeed, this is not necessarily an indication that she has changed her mind about placement.
