We can’t believe it, but summer’s nearly over and kids around Kansas City are starting to go back to school! Before autumn and school get kicked into high-gear, you can still enjoy what is left of the lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer. Here are a few events happening in or around Kansas City in September.
Kansas City Symphony Free Pops in the Park, September 1.
Location: The Theatre in the Park at Shawnee Mission Park, 7710 Renner Rd., Shawnee.
Introduce your kids to some of the classics, as well as some of the scores from The Wizard of Oz and Star Wars, at this free concert provided by the Kansas City Symphony! Bring a blanket and a picnic as you wind down from your long Labor Day Weekend. Pre-concert activities include a show from the Youth Symphony of KC, as well as an ‘instrument petting zoo!’
The Discovery of King Tut Exhibit, Sep 1-7.
Location: Union Station.
Journey back to Ancient Egypt with this brilliant recreation of King Tut’s tomb when it was first discovered in 1922. General admission to the exhibit varies by age.
KC Fun & Fitness Day, September Location: Calvary Community Wellness Center, 29th & Holmes Street.

Kansas City Royals Baseball, throughout September.
Location: Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals have thirteen home games in September, and if you haven’t gone to a game this season, then you definitely should! They’re leading the Central division of the American League, so their games are fun and exciting for the whole family.
