Today is the first day of Spring! Can you believe it? It might not feel like it today, but soon the weather will start getting warmer, you’ll need a game plan for your little ones. Here are our suggestions for activities in Kansas City and beyond this spring.

strawberriesA day trip to a farm or orchard. We live in the perfect location to turn a trip to a farm for berry picking into a day-long family event! There are so many to choose from, but here are a few: The Berry Patch, Alldredge Orchards, and Schweizer Orchards. Some farms/orchards are still ‘closed for the season,’ but that will all change when the weather gets better! For a full list of pick-your-own farms, click here for Kansas and here for Missouri.

Go for a walk. When the weather warms up and the sun comes out, you can’t help but want to be outside all of the time! Go for a long stroll through the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens or the Burr Oaks Conservation Nature Center.

Get some grub. Probably one of the best parts of the weather getting warmer is the fact that restaurants start to reopen their dining patios. This list of restaurants around Kansas City is a great resource when you’re looking to take the family out to dinner to enjoy the nice weather.

Try something different. Tired of your run-of-the-mill movie theater? Catch a movie at the Boulevard Drive-In. Want your teenagers to get active again? Take them for a friendly game of paintball. Thinking of getting into water sports? Learn how to wakeboard.

Now that winter is over, we’re looking forward to all that Spring in Kansas City has to offer. We hope you enjoy your spring. And for any of your adoption-related needs, please contact us today!

As a social worker who helped women with unexpected pregnancies, I saw that adoptions needed more heart and connection! I created Adoption & Beyond to create genuine connections between birth and adoptive families. Then life threw me the most beautiful plot twist – I became an adoptive mom myself! Talk about on-the-job training! For over 30 years, I've guided families through adoption with transparency, education, and ongoing support long after the "welcome home" balloons are gone. Feeling uncertain? I'm here to walk beside you on this amazing family-building journey.
