Letter of Introduction

Hello! We are honored that you are taking the time to look at our profile and consider us as a family for your child. It is our sincere hope that you find peace and follow your heart as you make your decision. What you will read and see is only a tiny glimpse of our love for our lives together, our families and of the abundant amount of love that we have to share with the child who is placed in our lives. We met at a church camp retreat in 1994, while we were both in high school. Lucas was a senior and Amy was a junior. We became high school sweethearts even though we lived five hours apart. After dating through high school and college, we were married in 2001. About five years into our marriage we realized that having biological children was not in God's plan for us, so we've spent the last 15 1/2 years building a strong marriage. We are now at a point where we want to share our love, our lives and our home with a child. We currently live and work in Missouri and share our home with our dog, Rookie. We are both very active in events at the school where Lucas works and participate in various activities ranging from sporting events to fundraisers to holiday concerts. While being involved in the lives of these young students on a daily basis has filled the void of not having a child of our own, we are anxious to be involved in and experience these activities with our own child, as only loving parents can.

About Us

A Little About Lucas
Lucas was born in central Missouri and is the older of two children. His immediate family including parents, grandma, aunts and brother all live within one hour of us. Lucas' brother and his wife recently welcomed a daughter to their family. Lucas has a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and is the Athletic Director, Head Baseball Coach and ISS Supervisor at a local high school. During spring and fall, Lucas spends a large portion of time coaching his baseball team and most evenings in the winter months, Lucas can be found refereeing for local high school basketball games. When not coaching or refereeing, he enjoys watching all types of sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR. When the weather is nice, Lucas enjoys playing golf and cooking for family and friends on the grill or smoker.
A Little About Amy
Amy was born in Illinois and moved to Missouri in the second grade. She is the older of two children. Amy's sister was tragically killed in a car wreck at the age of 20 years old. Although divorced, both of Amy's parents have remarried and she's been blessed with three step-brothers, a step-sister and several nieces and nephews. Even though Amy's family lives five hours away, we see them often, usually at least once a month. Amy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication and is a Project Manager with the state of Missouri. She enjoys sports, especially watching Lucas' high school baseball team and she is a faithful Chicago Cubs fan. Some of her other hobbies include reading, watching movies and crafting. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, making homemade cookies, just hanging out or attending the occasional concert or musical.

Activities We Enjoy

We are a very sports oriented family. When not at the baseball field, we enjoy cheering on our favorite teams. We watch the same sports and cheer for the same teams until it's Major League Baseball season. Lucas is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, while Amy is just as much a huge Chicago Cubs fan. This baseball rivalry creates lots of fun and excitement for our family and friends to experience. We enjoy spending time with each other. Whether it's a quiet evening at home watching our favorite television shows or a movie or taking a yearly vacation, we love experiencing life together. We have spent over half our lives as a couple and have grown up together. Experiencing the loss of Amy's sister, who was taken too soon, has taught us to never take life for granted and to take full advantage of the time we have with each other. We try to enjoy the little things in life and realize that in fact, they create the big things in our lives. Time with family and friends is also very important to us. We are fortunate to live so close to Lucas' family as we enjoy being together at holidays, as well as for frequent visits and dinners. Even though Amy's family lives further away, we make it a priority to visit them frequently.  When not spending time with family, we enjoy spending our time with friends. Through Lucas' coaching we are fortunate to have made some lifelong friends who we enjoy spending time with. Creating a family culture with Lucas' teams is important to us. We feel as though each of his players is an extension of our family and we love and treat them as our own. As you can see, the memories we've made with each other, our families and friends have created the life we enjoy today. We are excited about the future and look forward to making even more memories with our child!
