BIRTH PARENT ADOPTION RIGHTS

The right to participate in all phases of the adoption planning.

The right to select the family you want to parent your child.

3.

The right to have a full set of options in selecting an adoptive family for your baby.

4.

The right to meet and interview as many prospective adoptive families as you need to in order to make the best decision for you and your baby.

5.

The right to see the home and environment in which your child will be raised.

6.

The right to receive ongoing counseling and support throught the adoption process and following the birth of your baby.

7.

The right to ask questions of the adopting family.

8.

The right to see, hold and spend time with your baby at birth.

9.

The right to request ongoing information and contact with the adopting family through direct visits, letters, picture exchanges, or phone calls.

10.

The right to request financial assistance with adoption and pregnancy related expenses, I.e. medical care, maternity clothes, living expenses, transportation, and counseling services.

11.

The right to an open and honest relationship with the adopting family.

12.

The right to be treated with dignity and respect for your loving decision.
