Adoption & Beyond knows how difficult it can be to decide which agency or attorney to trust to guide you through the adoption process. It is for this reason Adoption & Beyond conducts free consultations on an individual or group basis for prospective adoptive families. The consultation includes topics such as the adoptive home study process, agency, embryo, international and private adoptions, typical adoption expenses, overview of Kansas and Missouri laws regarding adoption (not to replace legal counsel), and anything else you have a question about. Our Consultations are typically held in the evening hours.
Adoption & Beyond is available to perform agency, international and independent adoptive home study assessments, and post-placement services. An approved home study is required in order to adopt a child. A home study is a comprehensive study of your family and home.
When the lives of adoptive and birth parents unite through a domestic adoption, individual needs and expectations are blended together into what is called an adoption plan. Adoption & Beyond provides adoptive and birth parents with opportunities to design their own adoption plan. Adoption & Beyond is committed to providing a flexible and personalized adoption experience for everyone involved in the adoption process.
We are glad to help connect appropriate adoptive and birth families to one another. Adoption & Beyond believes openness in an adoption fosters the greatest benefits to an adopted child. "Do not ask who these children belong to, but ask who belongs to these children."
Families’ participation in this program begins with setting up an office visit, followed by having a home study completed (we accept other agency home studies), and organizing an adoptive parent portfolio. Once these steps are completed successfully, your profile is shown to prospective birth parents. Many variables, including the birth parent selection process, may affect your wait for an adoptive placement; accordingly, there is no way to accurately predict the length of wait you may experience. However, since we believe families should network with more than one resource for adoption, families typically have received their children in less than a year.
Adoption and Beyond works with prospective birth parents to assist them in exploring their options for an unplanned pregnancy. We provide free and confidential adoption education and support to birth parents. Birth parents are actively involved in planning their child’s adoptive placement--from selecting a family to formulating their own unique adoption plan. Adoption and Beyond provides prospective birth parents with assistance, education, and support throughout all phases of the adoption process.
Adoption and Beyond works with prospective birth parents to obtain social and medical background information that is provided to the prospective adoptive family. We also assist prospective birth parents in planning for the hospital experience and preparing them for the grief process experienced in adoption. Adoption and Beyond continues to provide counseling and support to birth parents after an adoption placement.
Adoption & Beyond is available to assist with the adoption process when adoptive and prospective birth families have found each other on their own means. Adoption & Beyond is available to assist in many ways, such as providing the prospective birth and adoptive families with adoption education & support, assistance with the hospital arrangement, help with the selection of legal counsel, home study services, and post-placement services.
Embryo adoption occurs when an individual has completed their family through In-Vitro Fertilization and still have remaining embryos frozen that they wish to place for adoption. Families who are struggling to conceive may choose to adopt frozen embryos in hopes that they will be able to carry and give birth to their “adopted” child.
Adoption & Beyond assists in arranging the appropriate social and legal procedures needed in order to make this unique style of adoption secure and safe for everyone involved.
Trans-Racial Adoptions assist adoptive families who are prepared to love and provide a home were a child’s cultural heritage is accepted and embraced fully. Adoption & Beyond is actively seeking families who desire to adopt healthy African American and African American/Caucasian infants. There are many multi-racial and minority children who are in need of a nurturing home, and we will not delay nor prohibit the placement of a child due to the inability to locate an adoptive placement of the same cultural heritage.
In addition to our program, Adoption & Beyond actively networks with other adoption agencies and attorneys in an effort to connect adoptive families with prospective birth parents who are considering placing their multi-racial or minority child for adoption.
International Adoption connects waiting infants and young children in other countries to loving and nurturing families. Adopting internationally brings with it the enriching experience of learning about different cultures as well as the adventure of foreign travel. Adoption & Beyond currently works with many different agencies that have adoption programs in other countries.
The first step is to set up an office visit where we may assist you in selecting which international program will best suit your family. By selecting the country from which you would like to adopt, you are able to largely determine the length of wait, the cost and whether you will have to travel abroad.
Adoption & Beyond works with a number of agencies who have orphanages oversees and will work closely with your selected country/agency in order to complete your international home study, international and immigration paperwork, and post-adoption visits.
