ADOPTION & BEYOND'S FEE SCHEDULE
Adoptive Home Study: A home study is the educational and assessment process of preparing Family and determining whether Family is suitable for adopting a child. The primary purpose of a home study is to help prepare Family for the adoptive placement of a child. The other purpose is to ensure that Family's home will be a safe, nuturing and healthy environment for placement of a child.
DOMESTIC:

- A domestic home study approval is good for twelve months in Kansas and Missouri
- Establishment/Maintenance of file
- Educational workshop, one office visit, and one home visit
- Review of home study material, compiling and writing report
- Administration costs (faxing, copying, phone calls, standard postage, etc.)
- Coordination with attorney and court
- Fee due with completed home study paperwork packet
INTERNATIONAL:

- An international home study approval is good for twelve months in Kansas and Missouri
- Establishment/Maintenance of file
- Educational workshop, one office visit and one home visit
- Review of home study material, compiling and writing report to meet immigration and country requirements
- Completion of standard international dossier documents
- Administration costs (faxing, copying, phone calls, standard postage, etc.)
- Coordination with international adoption agency
- Assistance with initial immigration process
- Fee due with completed home study paperwork packet
ADDENDUMS & ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS:
ANY CHANGE required to home study within twelve months of approval
- Any text changes needed (i.e. change in health status, marital status, criminal history, child desired, or a new job, etc.)
- Fee due with completed addendum home study paperwork
- If Family moves to a new home or if a new individual joins the household, a home visit will be needed.
- Fee due with completed addendum home study paperwork

UPDATE:

(Adoption & Beyond home studies can be updated for $400. This fee applies only if updated at the point of expiration.)
- Home study approval is generally good for twelve months. After that point, the home study needs to be updated in order to adopt.
- Adoption & Beyond can update another agency's home study for a domestic adoption.
- The home study can be updated if the original home study is less than five years old.
- Re-establishing/Maintenance of file
- One home or office visit
- Review of updated home study material, compiling and writing report
- Administration costs (faxing, copying, phone calls, standard postage, etc.)
- Fee due with completed updated home study paperwork packet
EXPEDITED:

- Availability of this service will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

TRAVEL FEE:
- Mileage and travel are included within the fees paid for the home study and post-adoption visit, unless Family lives more than 100 miles round trip (RT) from Adoption & Beyond's office or the adoption caseworker, whichever is closer. For every 100 miles RT increment above the initial miles included, a travel fee of $50 is due for each home visit, including post-adoption home visits.
Post-Adoption Reports: Post-adoption reports are required social service reports that indicate the progress an adopted child is making with Family. These reports may include supervision, evaluation and counseling. Such reports are often required by the court or country from which Family adopts.
POST-ADOPTION SUPERVISION:

- If Adoption & Beyond is performing post-adoption supervision for two or more children adopted at the same time, each additional child's supervision is $100 each.
- Fee due prior to post-adoption visit or at the time of invoice
INTERNATIONAL POST-ADOPTION FEES:

- Pre-payment of international post-adoption visits is required - each visit is $300
- If Family moves out of Kansas or Missouri during the adoption process, any remaining fees will be forwarded to the agency who will complete the required post-adoption reports
- If Family chooses or has to formally withdraw from the adoption process prior to the adoption of a child, upon written notification and proof of withdrawal by certified mail, the fee will be returned following the expiration of the current home study
- The post-adoption fee will be forfeited under any of the following conditions:
- If Family fails to provide Adoption & Beyond with written notification and proof by certified mail of their withdrawal from the adoption process within one year of home study expiration,
- If Family moves and does not provide Adoption & Beyond with their current contact information,
- If Family fails to complete the required post-adoption reports within five years of the original home study
- Fee is due with completed home study paperwork packet
Private Adoption: A private agency adoption occurs when Family locates a child or a prospective birth mother and would like the assistance of Adoption & Beyond in putting together the pieces of their adoption.
The following is a list of fees and possible costs associated with a private adoption:
A retainer fee will be requested in order to begin work on a private adoption case.
BIRTH PARENT INITIAL CONSULTATION:

- Providing birth parent(s) with initial adoption education and evaluating reasons for looking at adoption for their child

HOURLY WORK:

- Assistance with any task directly related to adoption with a birth family and/or Family. For example: Providing prospective birth family and Family with pre-adoption and post-adoption education, counseling, and support; communicating with all involved in the adoption process, facilitating meeting(s) between all parties involved in the adoption process; accompanying prospective birth mothers to medical appointments, facilitating temporary foster care, travel, agency representationa in the rare event of a contested adoption, facilitating out-of-state adoptions, etc. *The above list is not meant to be exhaustive

SOCIAL HISTORY REPORT:

INTERSTATE COMPACT:

- When an adoption occurs across state lines, special paperwork must be prepared in order for the child to legally cross state lines.

- Fee due prior to paperwork being initiated or due upon invoice
SUBSIDY:
- When adopting a special needs child, the child may qualify for a state subsidy. This fee is refunded by the state if subsidy is approved.
- Preparing required paperwork and forms
- Compiling the necessary paperwork needed for subsidy
- Administrative costs (faxing, copying, phone calls, standard postage, etc.)
- Fee due prior to paperwork being initiated
TRAVEL FEE:
- Mileage and travel time are included within the birth parent initial consultation and court appearnce
fee unless travel is required beyond 100 miles round trip (RT) from Adoption & Beyond's
office or the adoption caseworker, whichever is closer. For every 100 miles RT increment above the initial
miles included, a travel fee of $50 is due.
Domestic Agency Adoption: A domestic agency adoption occurs when a home study-approved Family is selected by a Prospective Birth Family working with Adoption & Beyond for the placement of their child or when Adoption & Beyond locates a Family for a specific adoption situation.
PROGRAM ENTRANCE FEE:

- Initial match meeting with a Prospective Birth Family
- This fee is active along with a current home study until a child is placed with Family through this program or through some other resource
- Due at the time of entering the Domestic Agency Program
MATCHING FEE:
- Facilitating meeting(s) and/or communication between the Prospective Birth Parent(s) and Family
- Providing pre-adoption education, assistance and support
- Gathering Prospective Birth Parent(s)' medical and social background info
- Coordination of hospital stay
- Due at the time of match or at the time of an expedited palcement. Once matched with a specific Prospective Birth Mother, this fee is non-refundable and non-transferable
PLACEMENT FEE:
- Agency representation at the Birth Parent and Family court hearing(s)
- Birth Family and Family post-adoption education, support and consultation
- Temporary foster care
- Post-adoption supervision
- Agency operational costs
- Balance is due the day the Birth Mother consents or relinquishes custody of her child for adoptive placement. This fee may be due within a 24-hour notice
- Related attorney, medical, and living expenses are separate from agency adoption fees and services
These fees are estimates for planning purposes only and the actual cost may or may not exceed the ranges listed.

Expenses approximately $2,300-$4,000 |
Family will need to retain an adoption attorney and be responsible for the prospective birth parent(s) attorney costs. The cost for Family's attorney is generally $1,500-$2,500 (non-contested adoption) and for the Prospective Birth Parent(s) approximately $750-$1,250 (each). These fees are paid directly to the respective attorneys.

- If the birth mother has Medicaid or private insurance, her pregnancy and delivery expenses are usually covered.
- Baby's medical expenses might be covered by Medicaid or the adopting parents' medical insurance. Adoption & Beyond cannot require a birth mother to use her insurance or Medicaid for the baby's medical expenses.
- Any medical bills not covered for the birth mother or the baby by Medicaid or by the birth parent or Family's medical insurance will be an out-of-pocket expense for Family.
- Payment is due when medical bills arrive. On occasion, the medical provider will bill Adoption & Beyond or the attorney directly; these bills will be forwarded to the Family for payment. Some medical bills may arrive after the entry of the final decree of adoption; however, the adopting parents are still responsible for the medical bills regardless of the date of billing. If the medical facility involved calls for payment, the Family's contact information will be released for billing purposes.
- Paternity testing may be needed for an adoption situation on a case-by-case basis. This expense is not the responsibility of Adoption & Beyond.

- The agency or the attorney will make every effort possible to identify anticipated expenses. Families may place a cap on these expenses if necessary.
- Fees should be paid directly to the vendor (grocery store and/or landlord, etc.) as expenses occur.
- If a prospective birth mother decides to parent her child, the expenses paid are considered a gift and cannot be legally recovered.
